Petite Fashion Guide
Petite sizing can often mislead you into picking your usual size. However, from my experience, especially brands from the UK are generally much more smaller to fit compare to US brands. For instance, I would need a size UK 4 for standard size at Topshop, but for Petite, I usually opt for UK 6 Petite.
There are certain styles that work great for petite women, especially fitted clothing. But sometimes oversized tops can be flattering too. However, I would watch out for the length when it comes to tops, you don’t want it to be too long ( like a tunic especially ).
Mini bottoms elongate the legs and enhance the overall petite frame. However, I seldom wear mini skirts as I find them lack of elegance. I do enjoy wearing dresses that are just slightly above my knees though. Mini bottoms do make you look taller, but I prefer wearing high waisted dress shorts or a pair of white jeans that is made for petite women.
High waisted bottoms are my favorites, they are made for petite women. My go-to outfits include a pair of high waisted wide leg pants and a simple blouse. Here is my favorite outfit for Summer.
The sad truth is that all shoes with ankle straps or go above your ankles will make you look short, I try really hard to avoid those because some of them do look super cute! My everyday shoes are either a pair of Chanel Flats or Nicholas Kirkwood Point Toe Flats or a pair of classic point toe pumps ‘Abel’ by Jimmy Choo which I have also mentioned in my videos.
I just simply love monochrome, not for any particular reason. I just think keep your outfit simple is purely classy. Being a petite, you have all the excuses in the world to wear black on black or white on white! A jumpsuit would be a great idea!
